Anyone that owns an iPhone 4s knows that the camera, while exceptionally solid for a smartphone shooter, doesn't perform admirably well in low light scenarios. If it did, we'd probably see photographers walking around with the handset at clubs, capturing those in attendance. Instead, those very same photographers use a rig that is complete with a hot shoe flash, enabling them to capture detail as if they were under the sun with their subjects.
The Paparazzo Light, needless to say, is a play on the infamous paparazzi. You know, the photographers that follow around celebrities, capture photos, and often in turn cause vehicle accidents due to their aggressive nature. Nevertheless, it's designed specifically to attach to the iPhone 4s and provide up to 300 lumens of light. It's self powered thanks to two CR 123 batteries, though we couldn't tell you how long they last, but the good news is that your iPhone's battery won't hit red after a few minutes of use. A switch allows you to flip between video and photo mode (flash or sustaining light), while a knob allows you to adjust the Paparazzo's output in the event your seeking a more subtle approach to capturing your photographs. The bulb is of the LED ilk, so it should very well last for years to come, though a drop to the ground could render it useless in no time flat.
The Paparazzo Light is expected to cost $60 when and if it reaches retail stores. Right now it's a Kickstarter project, and they're asking $45, though for an extra $10 you'll get a chrome version.
